We have a little playground in our complex (that looks like it's destined to give you splinters, so we never use it) but the other day we walked by and discovered this guy hanging out in there. Random.

101 in 1001 update
1. Watch "Gone with the Wind."
Again, I lucked out on this one as we took a train ride for a Joy School field trip.
It was a great field trip, involving a trip to a toy store and a cinnamon roll. But I think they all loved the train the best.
63. Play tennis with Chase
I actually did this one just last night. Do you know what I love about tennis? You can be quite bad at it (me) and still have a great time! One of these days I should take a class so I can learn how to play for real.
64. Play monopoly with Chase
Chase loves monopoly. Probably because he always wins. I, on the other hand, always lose. And since it's such an incredibly long game I never agree to play it with him. Hence the reason for having to make it a goal. But fulfilling it happened almost by accident. One Sunday afternoon while Jane was napping, Liv asked to play monopoly with us. We agreed to play, but "only for half an hour." Well, over two hours later I had been beaten soundly--again. And Chase was sitting on loads of money--again. What surprised me most though was that Livia was absolutely engaged in the game for that entire time. Maybe she should be Chase's new Monopoly partner! Sounds like a win-win to me!
76. Go to the De Young museum in San Francisco
The De Young was having a great exhibit on Dutch artists, like Rembrandt and Vermeer, with "Girl with a Pearl Earring" as a highlight. Neither Chase nor I wanted to miss it, so we braved it with the girls. You can't take a stroller into the special exhibit, so wrangling Jane was pretty exhausting, but it was so worth it. Do you know how sometimes you see a famous work of art and wonder "Why?" Well, this was not like that. I found the whole exhibit fascinating, and "Girl with a Pearl Earring" was so striking. Loved it.
We took the girls up to the tower at the end to get a good view of the city.
This was not nearly as distressing as the book for me, partially because I'd had time to get used to the tragedy, and partially because you didn't have as much time to get to know and become attached to all the characters. I made Chase watch it with me so he'd feel my pain.
4. Volunteer in the community
Chase and I signed up for a community clean-up day and ended up painting a wall together. We both rather enjoyed it! Sorry, no pictures. But our wall did look awesome.
44. Go camping
We ended up having a ward camp-out, so that made this one easy! Livia is happy to do anything that involves roasted marshmallows, and Jane was so happy to wander around. Ward camp-outs are the best because there are so many people around to help keep track of children and from whom you can borrow bug spray and hammers and ketchup. The girls look rather morose in this picture, but I promise they had a good time. And they even slept well! Bonus!

I think I'm mostly sad that all her pudge is gone! Also, on that first day of joy school Jane couldn't even sit up yet. What a difference two years makes!
